I am looking forward to both the birds in the Big Year and the trip report. Will you do any horseback riding treks?

No horse-riding done - I have had a phobia about horse-riding after my sister was thrown off a horse in Australia and knocked into unconsciousness for a bit.

312. Chestnut Rail, Buffalo Creek

They were supposed to be sneaky, skittish and secretive, but on a small boat with Chris turning off the engine way before we drifted close, we were able to see nine of the Chestnut Rails. Some spent a protracted time walking in the open on the banks.  Distributed only on the northern inland coasts of Australia.

Again a lot of beautiful birds and photos in this batch. Although it is not the most colourful one I love your Friarbird shot!

The Rail shots just prove again that a knowledgeable guide can make a big difference.

Myzomela? Where on earth do they get these names?
