199. Barred Eagle Owl, Singapore

A very rare resident in Singapore, the shrinking forests has made nesting a very challenging obstacle for the large but majestic looking Barred Eagle Owl. It is seldom spotted in our green areas so to see one often draws big crowds. My favourite owl, the eagle owl is on the Singapore Red List's critically endangered status.

It was a toss-up between my favourite owl species and a new visitor to Singapore, but the small visitor won the 2nd century spot.

200. Two-barred Warbler, Singapore

A tiny warbler with aspirations for higher education, the visitor to Singapore was recorded for the first time on the grounds of the higher-learning campus boarding house at Kent Ridge. Seen as far south as northern parts of Peninsular Malaysia, its visit has stirred hopes that the warbler will be better seen and recorded in the future on our island.

201. Great Slaty Woodpecker, Singapore

On IUCN Redlist's Vulnerable list, this woodpecker made the northern part of Singapore its home for a few months. A dinosaur-looking and large woodpecker, the species is extirpated in Singapore

Congrats on reaching #200! A colourful collection indeed! An excellent batch of photos with very good species. We did see the Slaty Woodpecker in Thailand and, as you say, it has a prehistoric vibe to it. Love the owls, too.

Congrats on your second century, with many more to follow no doubt. Beautiful photos! Especially like the Cuckoo and Gerygone photos, behaviour shots like those are my favourites!

Now the next batch or so will dip in quality with my shots of the regular common birds in our backyard.
