Congrats on #300, well done! I always enjoy seeing birds from the US, since none of our regular posters are based there. Lovely Woodpeckers in the snow, and interesting to see the Hummingbirds like that - just feels wrong!

Congratulations on racing past 300!

Some great birds and shots.

Anything in the snow seems weird to me. In fact the whole concept of snow in visible quantities...

According to eBird, we saw 57 species that day, including 19 lifers. A few were brief glimpses and several were duplicates, but worth the cold and snow (although I'm not sure the OH would agree...)

We then rented a car and drove across with the main stay in Death Valley, where we have never been before and on through California to pick up our flight home from San Francisco. We had a night in Utah to break the journey and did a little casual birding from the balcony of our hotel!

Overall there were fewer birds in Death valley than I was hoping for. I think as it was just a bit too close to summer (still very much spring in my mind when booking, but it was 42 degrees when we arrived!!). The resort was winding down for off season. Lists on eBird for the week or two prior were more successful. There were a couple of lifers though. Black-throated sparrow on the way in when we were photographing the wild flowers, which we could not locate and these two.

Your USA collection is increasing steadily. I’m sorry you did not get your roadrunner. I never realized American White Pelicans were such skulkers;)
