The Arctic Tern, the bird that migrates the longest distance every year. Breeds up north, over winters way down south, well I guess it's summer there then. A pattern I'm trying to copy!

Living in the UK it often seems that the best birds are to be found in other countries. Not true though, it's more a case of "the grass is greener".

Amongst other things we have some of the best seabird colonies in the world. My own favourite is the Isle of May which is 5 miles off the Fife coast, just north of Edinburgh the capital of Scotland. In the summer there are a few hundred thousand birds on a tiny island of about a mile long and a couple of hundred yards wide. Most people go to see the 46,000 pairs of Atlantic Puffins but on my last visit my target was to capture a Razorbill in flight with a bill full of fish. A much rarer sight but doable with a bit of patience!

Definitely not a detailed record shot but for me it captures the moment - NZ white fronted terns on the Canterbury coast north of Christchurch

Finally for now, back to the white fronted terns and a better picture of record.

Here are a couple of photos of a large flock of ducks (primarily Gadwall but also American Wigeon, Shovelors and Green-winged Teal). A Bald Eagle frightened them and they took flight and then shifted around a few times.

Photo was taken this past weekend on a private plantation in coastal South Carolina, just south of Charleston - in the ACE Basin.

An unusual one for me. I've only seen this bird once. I believe it is a Marsh Harrier. Sorry for the blurry photo.

Yes Adam, is a female Marsh Harrier, with that beautiful flight like all Harriers.

I get to see this bird almost daily , there are many here in Spain. It is always nice to see them but not as exciting as would be to see them in Chinko!!!!

Palm-nut Vulture. Incredibly this is the only specie of vulture we can find in Odzala.

I spent quite a while trying to sort out these 2 buzzards. I hope I've got it right but would be happy if someone tells me I'm wrong.
