Please upload your images for the July download.

Upload at the standard gallery size in this topic, and whichever image is chosen, I will then contact the member personally. However, the calender wallpaper itself must work in both (4:3) aspect ratio monitors and "widescreen" (16:9) monitors, and therefore the actual image must be available in at least 1600x1200 pix and 1680x1050 respectively.

How does selection work?

Whichever image has the most "likes" by the cut off date will be chosen.

Each member can upload one image per month.

I'll photoshop the most liked entry to include calender details, and provide copyright creditation for the submitting photographer, with website link of their choice.

As a very rough mockup, below is the type of idea. (Note, not at correct size/resolution for wallpaper.) Thanks to Russell for permission to use this as an example. You'll note with the emptier area at top right, allows the calender to be inserted. Also some empty space on the left will be beneficial for those with lots of desktop icons.

Colour, black and white, wildlife, landscape, people, your choice. Feedback appreciated. Also note, this is a members only subforum.

Will there be a counselling service for those who don't get any 'likes'?

Good thinking, John. Maybe we should just go for a right and left version?

Okay, yes, will do left and right versions. Normal and widescreen aspect. (I make that 4 different versions? Do Mac users have 2 screen sizes too?)

What does everyone else think? For July, we go with Russell's image then which will give me time to play around with it and set up the format for future months? The only problem I see with that is the main subject of each image will need to be centered, giving usable space both on left and right for the calender block. But let's see and work through some ideas.

Wouldn't it be easy (and make more sense) just to flip the photo for the Mac versions? Any photographers who might not be happy with that could submit entries that would work for both without flipping.

If the solution is that simple........ not so fast, Meeester Russell. -_- (this emoticon in lieu of evil grinning supervillan rubbing his hands with glee)

If it wasn't for the Oxpeckers I'd swear blind Russels excellent picture was taken at Port Lymne in the African Experience overlooking Romney Marsh!

You joke, my wife is convinced that the view across Sandwich Bay from Manston airport looks like the Mara, with the cliffs at Kingsdown being the escarpment.

You see, we'll all have to go stay with Nappa and Russell. Lot cheaper. Mind you, do either have a plunge pool?

No. Errr, it depends on the screen ;) .

My 13" MacBook Pro is 1280x800, my iMac is 1920x1200, my cinema display is 1680x1050. As for the new MacBook Pros they are 2880x1800 for the retina displays, 1280x800 (13") and 1440x900 (15") for the non-retinas. So maybe a 1280x800 and a high resolution version would be enough?
What pays stays.
