For once, a seemingly refreshingly simple tented camp, more in line with the authentic safari tradition than other properties.

Indeed. I can see this as a really nice camp for a group of friends, and much more appealing (to me) than the Relais & Chateaux properties.

A nice ST GTG site, actually!

It's the case at the moment that our 2013 safari prices are less than the 2012 prices for most international visitors. The weak rand has knocked pounds and dollars off the cost, and I'm sure it's the case for other SA operators. So if anyone has spent years dreaming of that African safari now may be the time to make it happen.

Same here.
But I'm afraid prices will be similar to the more posh places?

Hi Jochen, prices are very reasonable for Selinda Explorers Camp. USD426pppnt 1-31 March 2013, USD460pppnt 1 April-14 June and 1-30 November, and USD594pppnt 15 June-31 October. Minimum charge 4 persons sharing if 4 or less in the group, and then up to 8 x pppnt rate if there are 8 in a group. Combine this camp with one of the more 'posh places' and you'll bring your average nightly rate down in Botswana nicely.

Unlimited Tours & Safaris is a local owner operated Safari company that prides itself with a high level of service and real wildlife experience The company is owned and run by Moses Ntema, a professional safari guide with many years of experience from Kwando, Wilderness Safaris and GreatPlains.

We offer you a personalized camping safari in Botswana with professional guide and focus on wildlife and nature. We will tailor you safari to meet your wishes, and can offer both lodge and camping safari. In december and january we would recommend a safari that will take you to Central Kalahari and a private concession next to Moremi Game Reserve.

It takes place during the Kalahari's most productive season, when it receives low rains and wildlife migrates in large numbers into the desert valleys. This water creates a short yet incredibly prolific wildlife-viewing period with concentrations of desert species and their young. Then in contrast we explore the wildlife in the private concessions of Khwai and Santawani; those areas have been excellent for the last couple of weeks. We will here be able to do both night-drives and walking safari.

At the moment this safari will give us a great chance of seeing big herds of grazers and they will no doubt be followed by a lot of predators.

We now offer this safari as a full service safari (Camp set up in advance, en suite tents with toilet, meals cooked by chef, all clean-up and all camp duties done by our staff) for:

2 persons 350 USD pp/per night
3-4 persons  325 USD pp/per night
5-6 persons 300 USD pp/per night

Gamewatchers safaris / Porini Camps have a fantastic offer of a 6 night safari based around their adventure camps in Amboseli and Maasai Mara.

3 nights at their private conservancy at each park.

3 nts Selenkay connservancy (Amboseli)

3 nts Ol Kenyei Conservancy (Mara)

Transfers between Nairobi and the camps are by air - and those flights are included too.

The tents are dome tents and you'll be sleeping on high density foam mattresses but the guiding and overall experience is still a Porini standard experience.

It's available for $1,765 / 1,150 in 2013 and $1,800 / £1,200 in 2014.

more details here
