One Eyed Warrior Mother: Bring up children is never an easy task for mother's whether in humans or animals. Despite having lost one eye in a fight, this one eyed tigress, Vijaya aka Kankati has ensured that her physical limitation does not impact the upbringing of her cubs. Tigerwalah salutes the spirit of this devoted mother...Happy Mother's day to all mommies...Picture from Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve India, May2012.

As summer peaks at Ranthambhore, life becomes difficult for animals as basic essentials food, shelter & water become a scarce commodity. Activity in the park remains confined to areas near water points, tigers love to spend most of their time in & around water bodies or cool shady places. As herbivores need to visit water holes frequently, the predators concentrate their activity at these water points in search of food.

While most areas of park are devoid of any activity, tiger sightings are relatively easy. T6 a dominant male of Berda, Semli area can be seen cooling off in a water body.

Hi, day temperature crosses 40 degrees( centigrade) easily....hovers between 42-45 in the months of May & June. While the heat is difficult to bear, it is a very good time for tiger sightings as- increased visibility, limited movement of animals & concentration of activity around water points.
