Does anybody know what is the condition of the Nxai Pan road these days?

I may be able to sneak a self drive this year - Just do the Khwai Concession & Nxai Pan if the road into the pan is drivable.

I was there in early November and it was fine then. We then visited Baines Baobabs and the road was good too.

Every time I've been to see the baobabs we've had them to ourselves. We also had the main pan to ourselves, too.

Thanks Jan

I just may be able to arrange a second trip later this year.

The last time / first time I was there they were building the new blocks & the road was nearly impassable, there were a couple of vehicles parked up on the main trail having failed to make the the 30k of sand.

Should be no problem. Rains weren't too heavy and as long as you have a proper vehicle you'll be fine.

Nxai Roads are good.. you should be fine.

I've posted an update "Botswana Road Conditions May 2012" if you're interested.

Safe travels!
