Pics that will never be published in photo books

Jochen

Recommended Posts

Things are a bit slow in this forum.

So why not a fun thread with some photos that, although perfectly depicting wildlife situations, will never make it into the books and magazines. Let's see what the editors - with their Disney-like views on nature - do not want!

I'll go first.

Got plenty more, but... your turn!

(you don't realize how many pics like this you've got, until you start selecting pics for a book. Seriously!)

I was planning to include this photo in a personal book i am doing with Blurb because i think the image has great timing but , after seeing this post and ... listening to my wife , i changed my mind !!

The zebra and osprey(?) shots are ridiculous!!!

This unsheathed baboon forced himself on a female (with a child no less) while another baboon looked on in astonishment.

I was so happy when this wild dog stopped so that I could grab a pic. He then proceded to take a dump.

If I ever get around to writing a book ("Beyond the big 5?") these matings (especially the baboon 'rape' - very common sign of dominance that, and fairly easily induced behaviour if you're obviously male) and that scent marking picture (that is a great shot!) are just the sort of photos I'd want to illustrate things... Unfortunately I can't imagine many people ever wanting to read it, so I'm not sure I'd be able to pay you for them either... Mind you, this thread does make me remember a great photo of a back-lit polar bear captured in the middle of a nice steamy fart that was published somewhere fairly prominent. Can't find it now, of course, but maybe some others saw it at the time?!

Haha great thread.

x2 Excellent thread.

Not animals, but on self drives when we've camped away from the maddening crowd, after checking the camp from the tent I would then check the area..... My wife had her camera in the tent!!

A naked Nappa with binoculars is not a pretty sight !!!!! ohmy.gifbiggrin.gif

You might be wrong. What if it became some sort of a classic?

After all, look how many views Jochen's topic has had :) I even had my old English teacher, who I haven't seen in 20 odd years, telling me how he had enjoyed the images...

OK...

Before anyone steals our idea; how about launching that book project now, TZB? :D

I'd gladly contribute pics & help out with InDesign if needed. I'll share some more...

This one I actually like a lot, tearing off the meat like that. But nonetheless; I don't see that in any book.

And the silly face from my avatar probably qualifies as well.

Not sure about this one. A tailless elephant bum, in case you're wondering.
