Nikon D7000 + 500mm f4 1/160th @ f4 and ISO800, hand-held.

 

Nikon D7000 + 12-24 f4 @ 24mm, 1/200th @ f16 and ISO100, tripod.

I know, we are in the bush of Virginia, so this is a " Dreaming Africa Sunrise"

Usually the oystermen are sailing by on the way to work....love it.

That's so well composed, with the rocking chair, Adirondack chairs, deck and boat such pleasing silhouettes.

The red tones exceed description.

By all means take photos this lovely whenever you next go on safari!

It's not at all ‘being neighborly’ for me to reiterate that your Eastern Shore sunrise image is SERIOUSLY GOOD!

The framing, so as to include trees on both sides and to have the silhouettes near the shore, is nearly ideal.

Were I to have taken such an image, it would be more than a ‘keeper’ — it would be forwarded to a raft of friends and family as a little gift.

Yours truly grew up with a Summer/vacation home situated on a forested parcel of land on the Straits of Juan de Fuca, way out on the West End of the Olympic Peninsula of the State of Washington.

Years of sunrises and sunsets there cultivated a strong love of transition times, when light rays are bent with a bewitching effect.

You're like me — we both take a blizzard of shots then select the best.

Were it possible, I'd increase your confidence level as a photographer. Your future safaris may have the most stunning opportunities yet. Recording what you see with your trusty PowerShot 50 HS is certainly possible.

Ha! The 20 sec. search time may be because through the years here in Beijing I've learned how to tease out hard-to-obtain information from the frequently opaque Internet.

Many thanks for posting such a fine image. I'm a fan of Adirondack chairs so was very pleased to notice the silhouettes of yours.

Yours truly is poor at discerning the difference between sunrise and sunset.

• Was this excellent image made in the morning...or in the evening?

It's such an atmospheric shot, conveying the sense of reflection — richly meaningful time.

Meru Sunset in Armagnac Hues

ISO 400, f/5.6, 1/4000 sec., handheld Manual exposure.

At the close of the afternoon game drive, we were heading back to the Murera Gate when the skies turned orange. Using a fast shutter speed accentuated the murky tones, rather like fine armagnac.

There was a momentary quiet, no birds, no engine noise, only faint insect sounds. The close of a game drive requires no sundowner when sundown itself is so magnificent.

One from my 4 day safari at Camp Hwange, Zimbabwe. These 2 trees were about a mile from the camp on a beautiful sunset evening whilst enjoying a sundowner .

When I first saw your photograph, I thought that it was a grass thatch beach umbrella which had somehow folded up!

Communal weaver nests get this large? Impressive.

The layers of plum to reddish sky colors set it off so nicely.

Your weekend jaunt to Kalahari was productive!
