Elephants After a Mud Bath

Photographed at 4:54 pm on 2 August, 2011 in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya, with an EOS 5D Mark II camera and an EF 300mm f/4L IS telephoto lens.

ISO 100, F/4, 1/800 sec., 300mm focal length, handheld Manual exposure.

******************************************************************************

The afternoon sunlight accentuated the drying mud on the flanks of the elephants.

It was at the close of my first all day game drive and I'd fallen in love again with the world!

I'm definitely starting to think about it.

The descriptions I've read, the wildlife one might see, the overall setting — all top-of-the-line.

By all means give me a good swift kick about anyplace which you feel is exceptional, such as Savute.

Your discernment and taste resonates with me.

STUNNING!

That exemplifies black & white nature photography at its finest.

I'm flattered and honored.

Many, many thanks!

After seeing it, it reinforces my determination to do a couple of game drives in black & white this year — either in the upcoming July safari or the likely October safari.

With Much Appreciation,

Tom K.

Trois Éléphantes Adultes

Photographed at 3:58 pm on 7 February, 2014 in Masai Mara National Reserve, Kenya, using an EOS 1D X camera and an EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II super-telephoto lens.

ISO 100, 1/400 sec., f/2.8, 400mm focal length, handheld Manual exposure.

*****************************************************************************************************

Driving across grassland with a moderate breeze blowing in my face is one of the joys of standing in the back of an open-top safari van traveling in Masai Mara.

Spotting these three solitary elephants — far from anything else — was another joy, their quiet corporeality a brief moment of activity in an otherwise quiescent landscape.

Warm welcome to Safaritalk!

Your elephant images are so nice to see.

There's no limit — whatever you'd like to post, we'd enjoy seeing.

If you have time, why not write a self-introduction in the Introductions section, so that many others might get to know you.

Thank you for posting such nice images!

As your elephant images are so striking, there must be other photos in your archive equally attractive.

Everyone would enjoy your photos in any of the various forums.

It's very nice of you to share with us.
