Leopard

~ Photographed at 10:27 am in Samburu National Reserve, Kenya on 3 October, 2019 during a heavily overcast morning.

The Leopard appeared without any advance indication as we were parked watching birds. She sauntered past with consummate insouciance, then was gone.

There was no time to do more than rapidly focus, click the shutter button and marvel at such a close range encounter.

•  ISO 100, f/3.5, 1/400 sec., EOS 1D X, EF 400mm f/2.8L IS II, hand-held

The same leopard as above - perhaps considering us as the next meal?

Masai Mara September 2019. The leopard Lorian killed a baby eland. The next morning hyena chased her and her cub into the different trees. She managed to save the kill and her cub eventually joined her and the kill.

@penolva   Wow- what an amazing sequence of pictures. I am always in such awe of a leopard's ability to carry a kill up a tree- the strength required to do this is mind blowing.

This is such a great photo of the Hulk! Sadly he does not look like this anymore. He got into a fight with Anderson around Londolozi, and now he looks like a boxer, but I think that is what is so endearing about Hukumuri he reminds many of a brutish guy who takes no-nonsense.

I've been using Covid time to play around with re-processing some old photos in new ways, in particular in black and white.  I'm pretty happy with how this one came out.
