Hari, I hope you don't mind me being frank but not for me. Leopard is kind of lost between the branches who stands out (specially the left one). Also the branch that covers half of the head does not help much. Also a bit more space above the leopard would probably benefit the overall viewing pleasure at this photo

Disclaimer: just saw the movie Salt Of The Earth so my judgement is heavily influenced :)

Why not showing us also the colour version??

Thank you @@xelas - for the honest feed back and one that i agree with a 100%

Overall it's a half attempt at salvaging something - alas i must think it's shabby composition to begin with ........ Will try and post the color version later in the week - it didn't work at all IMHO ;)

Leopard from Kabini/ Karnataka ....... This guy is named, "The Temple Male" because apparently a lot of times, he is spotted asleep on top of an old ruined temple in Zone A.

Thanks @@Geoff - first of all, I consider myself lucky to live close enough to Kabini - just a 4.5 hour drive for me.

@madaboutcheetah Images 2, 3, and 4 are nice pictures but number 1 is an absolute cracker, the slight twist to the body so it's visible but the head is straight on with the intense eye contact really making it the stand out shot of the set.

Some fabulous leopard images here! Having just returned from the Masai Mara and an astounding, and totally unexpected seven individual leopards, I had to post a couple of shots.

The leopardess Osirata, Naboisho conservency, Masai Mara, Kenya. Shortly after this photo was taken, some lions came by and chased her up a tree....she looked quite terrified. We returned in the a.m. and she was no longer up there so we assume she got down safely!

This was one of the most interesting, awesome, insane sightings I've ever had on safari.

Not going to rehash the whole story here, but you can read the whole account (with more pics) here:

Not the best photo, and a bit of a crop as it happened at a fair distance, but being up a slope we could see it all play out.

@@Morkel Erasmus what an awesome sighting! We just got back from the Mara and were seeing Wild Eye vehicles all over the place :) Perhaps you were in one of them (although this sighting was before we arrived.)

Your recent leopard images are extraordinarily sharp!

The Osirata portrait is one for the awards! Exceptionally lovely micro-contrasts.

Your recent Kenya safari was the very stuff of safari dreams.

Thank you so much for posting the photos here for all to enjoy.

Although the link to the complete tale isn't viewable where I live, the photo you've kindly posted is dramatic enough!

What a sight! If you were guiding guests, they must have had elevated pulse rates after observing such an encounter.

As ever, your photography sets a high standard.

Thank you for posting the photo here.

The attached image was taken in the northern Serengeti near Sayari Camp July 2015. We attended a possible sighting the previous day, a leopard had been seen hauling a gazelle kill high into a tree. On arrival the kill was visible in the tree but no leopard, hardly surprising for at least 10 vehicles were lined up near the tree. We waited for a considerable time but to no avail. Interestingly it was the only tree for miles around, so very exposed. The following day very early in the morning we approached the tree from another direction and sure enough the leopard was in the tree with the kill. The leopard came down the tree as we approached so we backed off and she returned to the kill before eventually leaving again. In all we watched her for about 30 minutes during which time we were the only vehicle present.post-50942-0-38648500-1478296139_thumb.jpg

These 2 leopard images were taken in July 2016 during a stay at Namiri Plains Camp. s. Serengeti. Tanzania.

Location is 7 miles SW of Seronera airstrip on secondary track, between Maasai and Boma Kopjes. (Close to Seronera River ).

Image 1: As seen, taken very late afternoon in poor light, low cloud. Gives a very good impression of the actual sighting. (200mm, f7.1, 1/160).

Image 2: From the same series, image cropped and lightened only. Wish the leopard had turned it's head. (400mm, f5.6, 1/40).

Would welcome any constructive criticism.

@@johnweir I like the first image for the sense of place it conveys - very difficult light to work with. I would be tempted to try a B&W conversion for the second image in an effort to increase the contrast / texture - no idea how it would go though! Thanks for posting.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Took the liberty of having a look at your images, beautiful. Gives me something to aspire to. Have converted one of the images from the same series into B/W and fiddled about with the contrast as you suggested, not too sure about the result. Does however give a different perspective on the sighting. Thanks again. J.W.

Wonderful photography as with all your other images posted in this forum. Presumably a one in a million shot getting a normally marked leopard together with a melanistic one, must be a story behind the image. Absolutely beautiful. You give all us newcomers to wildlife photography standards to aspire to. These images have made my day, thank you. J.W.
