But this past weekend we went to a lodge in Dinokeng (just north of Pretoria).

 

I have seen a few guineafowl this year (in fact I see them probably on a weekly basis on my way to work), but until now had not managed to get even one decent shot.

 

Got lucky this weekend though...

Somehow, I got the Afrikaans and Latin names for the previous bird completely wrong, It is in fact

He was collecting mud for nest-building, and the larger of the two is a piece of that mud. I am nort sure of the other bit, but suspect it's the same.
