~ These June, 2017 articles from The Hindu explain the dilemma between the steady increase in the tiger population in Karnataka and the Western Ghats, and the reality of insufficient habitat to accommodate the increase.

 

Tiger numbers in such areas as Nagarahole and Bandipur have reached their ecological carrying capacity without any corresponding increase in protected areas for both tiger and prey populations.
