Three Cisticolas. I did my best trying to ID them with several bird books (including "Birds of Zambia" which does not provide pictures but very accurate ranges) and so hope I have at least one of them right. At least I am sure they are three different ones.

Sorry Sir...

I think the Lesser Honeyguide in post #598 is actually a dark-capped Bulbul.

But I am sure you have an ace up your sleeve to get back to the incredible 500?

Thanks, @xelas, @PeterHG and @Tdgraves.

@Peter Connan, no aces needed. 1.) The Lesser Honeyguide is not included in the overall count (I´ve seen it in Ethiopia), and 2.) it is there! I admit you need good eyes, but it´s in front of the Bulbul.

@michael-ibk, I apologise. I see it now.

Your numbering system is way too complicated for a flathead like me though...

Congratulations on reaching 500- a magnificent achievement. A beautiful bird to reach that magic number. It has been a real pleasure seeing this list grow.

I really like looking at the scientific names. My latest treat was the Honey Guide - Indicator indicator, an of course the Lesser Honetguide - Indicator minor.

No problem, @Peter Connan. Well, the first number is the actual relevant count. The second number, "ZZ", refers to the number of birds seen in Zimbabwe and Zambia, "ET" was Ethiopia, and "E" is for Europe. I just like to keep track what I saw on specific trips or on my home turf.

Yes, I quite enjoy some of the Latin names as well - my favourite will always be our Wren, Troglodytes troglodytes. I also like to read about all these explorers so many birds have their names from, like Heuglin or Rüppel. Their lives would make for a good book.
