On her second trip out she kindly obliged me by coming in to land in a heavily reeded channel about 30m from the hide.

Then as I was packing up and actually on the phone to a work colleague she shot out from no where straight across the front of the hide. In a mad dash I dropped the phone and tried to get a shot. In the end it was my best of the day

Your patience paid off - great sighting of the Bittern! Have only ever heard them "booming" never seen them.

Hurrah! a bittern @ImSa84. Have only seen them 3 times, but wonderfully one was for about 20 minutes  when it was "hiding" at the back of some reeds, head straight up,  but did not see us behind it and about 10 metres away with a clear view! luckily nobody else walked along the path but of course, we did not have a camera!

SOMe beautiful UK additions. Well done with the Bittern - I have never seen one.

I don't think that the feral pigeon is a cheat in any way. It is a bird that has adapted well to an environment humans have created. (And when I was young in the inner city, I only knew pigeons, sparrows and ducks!)

@Dave Williams - now that makes sense! I was totally confused by that comment....even thought that there was sequence of Bitten photos that you're might to get that I somehow missed.

It's an EBC but I've never got a photo of these small warblers before and I don't expect that I'll get another chance this year.

322. Green Sandpiper, 5/7, Rye Meads

 

I thought initially that this was a Common Sandpiper but I think the dark colouration and white spots on the back are diagnostic of a breeding Green Sandpiper.

I wish we had some of the birds that are common in  SE England up here in Wales. I am hoping that the Hobbys will still be around early September as I'm staying near Cambridge for a couple of days.

A beautiful kingfisher, and the Bearded Reedling (though I still think of them as Bearder Tits). I think you did well to capture any picture of the Cetti's Warbler - a most frustrating bird.

Congratulations on the 300+ and your patience. It does bring its own rewards. You got your Harrier and Bittern and Beardies to prove it.

These are the actions of a desperate man. I've had little chance to get out with the camera and I'm not sure that I'll get a chance for a while. Still I'm finally trying to complete my SA trip report from April and I came across a few EBC's that I didn't have the desperation to post.
