Are you living in the UK and still want to visit Africa but are worried about the cost with the fall in the value of the £? There are still ways to visit Africa and not break the bank.

1 - Travel in low season and get some great rates. Usually from April to the end of June in southern Africa or even lower in December to March, the animals don't know the difference between June and July!!

2 - Look for good deals, stay 4, pay 3 and similar to this. There are plenty of offers out there like this and we can find them for you, especially Zimbabwe and East Africa.

3 - Book your trip with just one African operator and get long stay discounts. Some offer these all year and others just outside their busy periods.

4 - Visit lower quality accommodation lodges than your ideal. The wildlife is usually the same.

We can help you find these deals in most African safari destinations and even in some we don't often use.

Examples:

Visit Zimbabwe in 2017 on an 8 night trip to Mana Pools and Hwange National Park from April to June and get a fantastic special with free flights in and out of Mana Pools.

3 x nights Somalisa (Hwange), 3 nights Zambezi Expeditions (Mana) & 2 nights Kanga Camp (Mana)

The price for this from 1st April to 30th June is US$4,000 per person sharing. This equates to approx. £3,260 at today's ridiculously low exchange rate of around $1.23.

Click here to see this on our website

Another Zimbabwe itinerary for the more adventurous is the Zambezi Classic Long Canoe Safari that runs over 9 nights/10 days from Kariba to Kanyemba on the Mozambique border. This is a real adventure as everything goes with you in the canoe and there some participation involved.

The price for this is US$1,500 per person sharing, requires 2 people to depart and runs from April to November. The price does not include National Park fees which are currently US$280 per person but any changes will not be known until January 2017.

Total Price US$1,780 per person, approx. £1,450 at today's exchange rate.

South Africa - Fly me to Phinda. Visit Phinda Game Reserve at either the Forest or Mountain Lodge for a minimum of 4 nights and get return flights from Johannesburg free of charge. (Airport tax will apply only if Federal Air flights are NOT available and you have to fly Airlink or others instead).

Price is ZAR26,000 per person sharing which is approx. £1,500 per person sharing.

Namibia Adventure Safari

This visits Sossusvlei, Damaraland and Etosha National Park (Ongava reserve).

2 x nights Olive Grove Guesthouse, Windhoek (one on arrival and one on departure)

3 x nights Kulala Desert Lodge, Sossussvlei

3 x nights Doro Nawas, Damaraland

3 x nights Andersson's Camp, Ongava Reserve

This includes all your flying, full board and activities.

The price is ZAR63,850 per person sharing which equates to £3,670 per person for 11th Jan to 31st March

ZAR68,150 per person sharing which equates to approx. £3,990 per person for 1st April to 31st May

ZAR79,420 per person sharing which equates to approx. £4,550 per person from 1st June to 31st October

ZAR66,800 per person sharing which equates to approx. £3,820 per person from 1st Nov to 19th Dec

Botswana/Zimbabwe Green season Safari - minimum 4 night stay.

Camps - Somalisa (Hwange, Zimbabwe) & Linyanti Ebony

4+ nights rate - US$305 per person per night

6+ nights rate - US$250 per person per night

Flights are extra.

Zimbabwe again - they want you to visit!!

The Amalinda Collection - applies for January to April, November & December 2017

Stay for 6 and pay for 5. This includes Camp Amalinda in the Motopos and either Khulu Ivory Lodge or Ivory Safari Lodge, both of which are outside Hwange but are very close to the entrance gate and have their own small concession bordering the park.

Amalinda/Khulu Ivory Lodge - US$1,915 per person plus US$145 per person for the transfer from Khulu Ivory to Victoria Falls. Total US$2,060.00 per person for 6 nights, 3 at each camp. approx. £1,700 per person. This requires arrival in Bulawayo and includes a free transfer from Camp Amalinda to Khulu Ivory saving US$410 in total and saving $820 in total on accommodation.

Zambia

Stay 8 nights in South Luangwa National Park at Chichele Presidential Lodge and Puku Ridge (yes they are quite close but every day is different).

6th Jan to 14th June & 1st Nov to 20th Dec - US$3,250 per person including return flights from Lusaka to Mfuwe. Approx. £2,650 per person sharing.

15th Jun to 31st Oct & 21 Dec to 5th Jan 2018 - US$4,350 per person sharing. Approx. £3,350 per person.

There are many more around, especially in Kenya but also Tanzania and Mozambique

Another great safari opportunity is our Desert & Delta Safari with the company of the same name in Botswana. This 9 night itinerary takes you to some of the most remote places in Botswana and is as follows:

3 x nights Leroo La Tau

Makgadikgadi Pans National Park

On the banks of the Boteti River, this desert lodge will show you how the wildlife survives in extreme environments. Game drives, walks and seasonal motorboats.

3 x nights Savute Safari Lodge

Chobe National Park

In the heart of Chobe National Park where the Savute marsh stretches out into a vast grassland ecosystem. Game Drives, Mokoro & Motorboats.

3 x nights Camp Okavango

Moremi Game Reserve

In the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta, a real wetland wonderland. Mokoro, Motorboat cruises & Island walking.

Prices:

Green Season - 1st January to 31st March & December 2017

US$4,850 per person sharing including all internal flights, meals, drinks, Laundry and and National Park fees

Shoulder Season - 1st April to 30th June & 1st November 2017

US$5,875 per person sharing including all internal flights, meals, drinks, Laundry and and National Park fees

Dry Season - 1st July to 31st October 2017

US$7,875 per person sharing including all internal flights, meals, drinks, Laundry and and National Park fees

These rates are a special rate and the Lodges must be booked on a consecutive basis but the order can change for no extra cost. Chobe Game Lodge can also be included but depending on routing, rates may change.

I personally think these are great rates with the shoulder season rates being only US$425 more expensive than the current Kwando 5 rivers green season special and there is some fabulous wildlife to be seen.

Click here to see this itinerary on our website including 360 degree accommodation tours.
