Hello to everyone watching this excellent thread!

 

We are participating purely on de Coubertain's ideal. It will be a great way to learn more about birds, and to get out and try to add as many to the list.

 

There will be mostly only English names, and sometimes even without those. So please do us a favour and help us identifying those we are unable to ID!

 

I will try to post in a timeline manner. And will add the location at the start of each different location, with some info about it.

I. Rietvlei, South Africa / 30 Jan 2016

 

Out Big Year could not start better than accompanied by @@Peter Connan, a birder and photographer and person par excellence. We have been taken to Rietvlei Nature Reserve near Johannesburg.

Peter showed us many birds, and some of those we were able to capture on the sensor.

A great start - good to have you (both) on board. I suppose you will look on your Sri Lanka trip a little differently now :)
