Even though I'm soo late to the party that it's March 2016, I feel like I can't join the 2016 party without posting something for 2015.

I'm going to try adopt the same posting convention as 2016

This first lot might be unusual to many birders given that they are from St Lucia.

1. Rufous-throated Solitaire

@@michael-ibk @@dlo - cheers for the comments. I found bird photography to be comparatively easy in St Lucia - I think that the low number of predators make them more docile then their mainland cousins

  • 1 month later...

More photos from St Lucia. I should have mentioned that all St Lucia photos were taken in October from the 2nd - 12th.

47. St Lucia Black Finch (endemic)

This is the female - unfortunately I never got a good shot of the male who are notoriously shy

gallery_47987_1400_19480.jpg

48. St Lucia Parrot (endemic)

Known locally as the Jacquot, this is the national bird of St Lucia. Unfortunately the closest we got was to see them circling in the valley below.

49. Black-whiskered Vireo

Lovely photos - you did well with the Long-tailed Widow bird in flight -very difficult to capture!

@@TonyQ - thanks. It was really down to the location. I had never seen such a density of widow birds (both Long-tailed and White-winged), many of which were feeding in mixed flocks with Red Bishops - as in the photo below.
