Good stuff @@Peter Connan. Sewage treatment plants are indeed very good birding sites.

 

Sadly, in the age of terrorism, etc. many such plants in the USA are being closed to birders and the public... I am always skeptical that terrorists would target a "poo poo plant" but I suppose bureaucrats like being territorial about their turf and use any excuse...

I can sort of understand that with pre-treatment plants, as they may be poisoned, but post-treatment? What's next, closing up all waterways?

Absolutely gorgeous photos, @@Peter Connan, the detail on the Stilts, the Pelicans, the Ibis etc is great and you also found some good angles which make the birds stand out even better! Expert work! Useful info, too. We have been to South Africa before, but never to the Cape Town area. We hope to make up for that and do some birding in the south next January.
