I'm gathering everything, about ready to head out the door when I found your Big Year 2016 post.

TERRIFIC !!!!!!!!!!!

You saw a cardinal ?!?!?! I had no idea that they were observed that far west.

Most of the species you've shown bring back precious memories to me of times long ago.

It's been decades since I last saw them, but your fine images show that they're every bit as lovely today as in times past.

Thank you so much for joining this year! I look forward to your future posts.

With Appreciation,

Tom K.

February was a quiet month. I only made it to Point Lobos once and we had a staycation at Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley.

I need to get out the door, but...

An American robin...Canadian geese...a wild turkey!

Big sigh.

You're bringing me home.

This thread is turning out to be a special treat.

Very Big Thanks to Carmel!

What a great start and I am pleased we will be getting some birds from a different area.I will be no help with identification but I will read with enthusiasm :)

(Having said that, the bird on the feeder at Cave Creek Canyon looks like the Siskin that we get in the UK - I sure a birder will step in.....)

@@Patty what a great start to a birdy 2016, and I like the way you have separated the sightings by months.

The standout photo for me is the Red Cardinal followed by the Costa's humingbird, Acorn Woodpecker and the Roadrunner.

Looking forward to March...

What a wonderful series of sightings and photos in March - and all so close to your home. I find Gulls very difficult to identify also!

I like all of the pictures, but I really love the group shot of the Baird's Sandpipers

I'm going to break two rules at once by posting photos of Crusty, the mourning dove we raised in 2007. We think one of the parents was killed by a cat overnight.

Day 1 - Before Crusty's eyes were open. The foot in the corner is the sibling that didn't survive :(

Good to see an American variety of birds. I visited Florida two years ago and I was impressed with the number of birds we saw there, but Arizona appears to be very good as well!
