When we were done at Harold Porter, Elsa said "do you want some Penguin", and off we went to Boulders. The penguins here are so tame, you can trip over them.

As we were leaving, I noticed one that was struggling. Going closer for a look, we noticed that it had it's foot trapped between two branches that were twisted around each other. We managed to free it, but I got quite a gash on the back of my left hand for my trouble. These things can bite deceptively quickly!

Sorry to hear about your camera problems, hope it will be fixed soon. Fantastic shots as usual, though. I love the Sugarbirds of course, but the standout photo for me is the Common Starling. Now, one more to go for 100!

Sorry to hear about your camera - but you did brilliantly well with your loaned one. It looks like the Botanical Gardens at Cape Town is a good place to visit!

Tony, take note that the Harold Porter National Botanical Gardens are in the Betty's Bay area. This is on the eastern side of False Bay, about 30km from Cape Town itself.

 

The Kirstenbosh National Botanical gardens are the ones in Cape Town. Also a beautiful venue, and with a greater range of habitat, and thus more species of birds, but perhaps a bit less productive in terms of Sugarbirds and Sunbirds.

 

Will get to 100 tonight if nothing intervenes...

@@Peter Connan, beautiful birds, the Sunbirds and Sugarbirds are just dazzling amidst the floral displays. A Penguin bite for being a Good Samaritan, they look so harmless. I do hope to get to Capetown one day in the not to distant future, so appreciate the info.
