So often we hear that Cheetahs are 'solitary' cats - yet the coalition of brothers is documented over and over. In this moving story, filmed in the Linyanti, Bostwana - Achilles, the leader of the three blood brothers dies and the two subordinate cheetah's lives are turned upside down.

They have to learn to hunt together - where Achilles had been the leader, now Odin must step up and Shiva is a little less focused on the hunt. But wait, while they are learning to hunt for themselves, a lone male cheetah starts to encroach on their 50 sq. km territory, because Achilles used to be the one to mark the territory.

Over and over in this fascinating documentary we find our previously held understanding of Cheetah and their lives changed by watching the behaviour of these brothers and their neighbours. (You want to strangle the black back jackal for giving away their position by howling and barking every time they make a kill! I reckon the hyena and leopard paid him snitch money.)

A remarkable thing happens - the encroaching male, a cousin, is rebuffed - but keeps coming back and finally... you need to see the documentary to find out the startling finale.

Cheetah Blood Brothers is a top notch documentary and having just been shown is recent and therefore repeated on NatGeo channel - check your guide and catch it if you can.

Rapid development, social and economic disparities and the ever-changing needs of a dynamic society are creating continuous conservation challenges in Namibia. NEWS strives towards a balance between the need for development, economic growth and equality and the need to sustain a healthy environment.

The valuable support of our corporate members and donors provides News with the financial means to pursue its objectives of promoting research, collecting and disseminating information on the environment and advancing community awareness of, and participation in, all aspects of conservation in Namibia.

I can only imagine that clarkandreson posted in the wrong thread... I know somewhere on Safaritalk there is some information about NEWS.
