Poor leopard.  Luckily, eventually they managed to dart the leopard with a tranquilizer gun and then relocate it to a nearby national park, this article says, though apparently not until after it "mauled" six men.

Its been six months since i came to bangalore and till now i have heard of atleast 4 such cases including this one.

Clearly a brave and dedicated man who did his best for the leopard against alarming odds with all the crowds watching and noise. It is clear from the video I saw that the cat was just terrified and wanted to get away.

 

I hope he heals well and that his costs of care are met
