Leopard and cubs

5 posts in this topic

Another Video by Mr Cheetah80, this time of a leopard and her (very shy but cute) cubs. Seems there is some dispute as to her identity, some say it's Pretty Girl and others say it's the Double Crossing leopard. We lean towards the latter option at the moment :)

The choice between a ‘Pretty Girl’ and a ‘Double Crossing leopard’ is an interesting one.

Who would ever choose the latter?

Love the names!

Wow, what a lovely sighting. Where in the Mara was this (near porini lion camp in olare motorogi)? Also, were there many (or any) other vehicles around?

@@PT123 This was in the double crossing area (hence the name of the leopard) in the reserve but close to Olare Motorogi . In the beginning it was only our vehicle and another - after a while I would say around 7 vehicles were there. But it was in June which is low season, and it was very wet and muddy so it was not very easy access for some. I suspect there would have been more vehicles around if it was dry.

@@Tom Kellie From what I understand Pretty Girl and Double Crossing leopards are different cats - comparing photos we realised that this must be the Double Crossing female (even though we were told it was Pretty Girl). She does have a face of a double crossing cat though sometimes :D

The moral of the story is watch out for those pretty girls, they can double cross you. Adorable little cubs with their mom, whoever she is.
