A few winter landscapes from the Mourne Mountains in Northern Ireland. These are from the last few years. The Mourne Wall runs in a 21 mile loop and is around 6ft high with 3 towers on different summits, in places the snow is regularly level with the top of it. Myself and my 2 dogs feature in a couple of these along with my brother.

Woke up to snow in Sedona, Arizona this morning :)

~ @@Patty

Your first photo, with the yellow foliage below and snow-dusted red rocks above, is one of the loveliest I've seen in quite a while.

Just gorgeous!

It's so thoughtful of you, @@Patty, to take time to share these Sedona images with us while you're on the road.

Sedona ranks as one of the most charming communities in the Southwest...yet to see it with snow...that's the BEST!

To wake up to such a sight must be a joy. Thank you so much for sharing it with us on Safaritalk.

Canyon de Chelly, Arizona yesterday. It was snowing sideways by the time we got there.

We made it to Petrified Forest yesterday afternoon only to find the park closed. Hoping the park reopens this morning. The forecast is clear for the next few days.

Who sez there's no real winter in the American Southwest?

Your eye-pleasing photos are bringing us along on your journey.

The intense blue sky is such a sharp contrast from the snow.

Sideways snow flurries in Canyon de Chelly? Wow!

It's interesting to see the ancient red stone dusted with snow.

Were you able to visit the Petrified Forest?

I imagine that you've enjoyed several terrific meals during your journey.

As Christmas approaches, I'm hoping that every day will be magic!

It has been unusually cold throughout much of the Southwest. It was 16 degrees F at the crane pond at Bosque del Apache at 7am. We're in Santa Fe now enjoying the festive atmosphere.

Please pardon my ignorance.

What kind of cranes are those in the crane pond?

I've never seen anything like it.

That's great news that you've reached Santa Fe.

Gotta be a wonderful place to be during the holidays.

Love these snow & sunshine & rock images!

After looking at the crane pond photo again, I need to add that it's an exceptionally lovely image, with superb colors.

Very ‘American Southwest’ tones, which I find attractive.

Those colors are so easy on the eyes.

That sounds very nice.

Enjoy!

Your photos and comments during the trip have been a December highlight.

As I love the American Southwest, knowing that you were there was great.

I've been thinking about you and the Monterey – Carmel – Pacific Grove area.

Have you and Mark already returned home from your winter trip?

The photos you posted and the description of your stops were the only holiday sights and sounds that from the USA that I saw.

I hope that 2016 will bring you unexpected wildlife sightings, whether birds, mammals or others.

Your regular posting of otter images is such a joy!

With Happiness,

Tom K.

The UK has been unusually warm and wet so far this winter. However today I was able to get high enough in the Lake District to enjoy some more seasonal fare.
