A tiny bit of snow here in Austria, but far too little of it to get into a Christmas feeling. -_-

No snow here in Florida but it is 44 F/7 C at 9:15 am. Pretty chilly for our neck of the woods.

Although this has been an unsually mild winter. Typically, we look more like this:

I'll take a quick break from my Tanzania trip report to post here, since I'm finally ready to remember the crazy winter we had last year.

In December, we went to Northern Massachusetts/Southern New Hampshire for a weekend, primarily to visit Plum Island and look for Snowy Owls. We did some landscape photos too.

gallery_47376_1267_45201.jpg

We had a couple of distant views of Owls (as well as many other birds) during the day, but it was only at our last stop in NH that we really got lucky.

Photography was a little challenging, because there were people behind her from our vantage point, but I thought these turned out alright. Right after the second shot she took off directly at me, but I missed the shot (as usually... I'm not good at BIF for some reason).

In January, we spent a weekend on Cape Cod. It's nice to experience the solitude on the beaches, compared to in summer. Of course, no swimming!

On our return on the Sunday, there was a storm rolling in, so we stopped at one last beach to try to take a few pictures.

Finally, in February when the snow was the worst we had a couple of days when work was closed, so I played around with photographing my backyard.

As well as a couple of visitors... Red Squirrel.

And Dark-Eyed Junco.

I can't see them here, but by clicking on them I can see your gallery. Stunning photos. I too would love one day to photograph the northern lights, but I am not built for those temperatures.

Not seeing them here is maybe a good thing, as it allowed me to see your awesome aviation photos too! Thank you @@Big Andy.

I'm certainly no expert, in fact quite the opposite, but have been told that it's worth clearing your cache memory/browsing history to try and cure this problem. Let me know if that works for you, it did for me on a different forum with the same problem.

~ These images were made at around 8 am on Tuesday, 1 December, 2015. Winter's arrival is three weeks away, but the chill, frozen snow and atmosphere are wintry enough to qualify.

Looking out the 8th floor windows of my Beijing apartment, it was the thickest, most intense air pollution that I've ever seen in my life, in Beijing or elsewhere.

No magpies or sparrows have been observed during the past five hours, which is unprecedented.

Fatalistic students and local residents go about their business without masks, including jogging and vigorously playing basketball to lessen stress.

As this is the lowest visibility during my 17 years in Beijing, I'll remain indoors all day, as there's enough food.

As there's a trip report in progress, this is ample incentive to dedicate the entire day to uploading images and accompanying verse.

These images underscore my eagerness to return to the blue skies of Leopard Hills next month for the abundant wildlife sightings and dips in the plunge pool!
