All very low res scans from slides. Selinda during the late 1990's then a few taken in 2002.

@@madaboutcheetah Hari, After much searching I've finally found some images on a very old external harddrive. These should bring back some memories. Sad to think that all these individuals would now be long gone.

I'm not into naming wild animals but from memory there is Letotse (one of the 3 bros), Jade & Sparky and a few others I have no idea about.

The first 3 images I believe are the earliest ones I have of the 3 boys. In the 2nd image you can just make out the 3rd cat still feeding on the ground.

With the cheetah throttling the impala we saw the kill from go to woah but at the precise moment the capture was obscured by some bushes. The mother (in the background) caught the impala but allowed her son to throttle it.

Thanks @@Geoff ........... The cheetah cubs in this post, what year was this? 2004/2005? If so, that may have been Jade. That's what John told me they called her in Selinda.

Nope it's 2002. On one morning drive I saw eleven individual cheetah. Amazing considering the 2 large lion prides in the vicinity at the time.

Strong stuff this nostalgia.... I am feeling a little bit emotional after reading all this and I have never been to any of these camps - only went to Botswana once in 2010.

@@Bush dog.. You have some fantastic photos from those days. Classics!

@@Safaridude and @@Geoff... I could say similar.

Great thread - please keep going!

@@Game Warden... You should make this pre-2004 so @@africawild can join in, although I like the 2000 cut-off date because nearly everything "serious" before then was film. Hmmm... you decide!! :D

Yes, Hari, it's the same place. When I took the pictures, it was still called by the previous name.

Back to the last century.

August1992 - my first safari - Tanzania in a Guerba truck, basic small tents. We started at Dar es Salaam, a couple of days in Zanzibar then up through Tanzania (Lake Manyara, Lake Natron, Serengeti, Ngorogoro Crater, Tarangire, Arusha). I loved it!

All photos scanned from small prints (Manual focus Practika camera)

A leopard gets down from a tree as we pull up underneath unaware (I still remember this was the last frame on the film)

gallery_45513_922_47704.jpg

A group of cheetah in the Serengeti (these are still the only cheetah I have seen - we must remedy that!)

The trip was pretty cheap and very basic but I really enjoyed it and it started the Safari bug. (I went with Guerba 2 years later to Zimbabwe)

@@TonyQ, those old photos have held up over the years really well. They have a beautiful feel about them. When I scan old slides I pick up so much contrast that I become quite despondent. I know it's the settings but I can't seem to get it right. I do love the four cheetah in particular but you're right, the lack of subsequent sightings must be remedied. :)

@@TonyQ I love, love, love that wildebeest shot. Its like a painting! It reminds me so much of our trip to the crater in 2001. I have such a vivid memory of a similar view only mine has zebra dotted between the wildebeest and there are a couple of hyena playing in the water....I really must dig out that old cd.

Thank you - they scanned much better than I expected (I have never taken slides so have not attempted to scan them)

@@michael-ibk

But at least there were 4 of them!

@@Peter Connan

It is very sad. We saw a number of rhinos - most with shorter horns than this one.

@@ld1

Thank you. I have another shot that has Zebra in as well. I hadn't looked at these pictures for years - this thread gives you a good excuse so dig them out! (I may even have a look at my 1994 Zimbabwe photos during a cold winter's evening)
