It may well turn out to be a big year but I'm starting small.

 

This is one of 3 Cape Wagtails that spent the last week bouncing around our lawn

No raptors in my garden so I've started trying to photograph the little fellas.

A pair of Blue Tits are nesting in an old pump but they don't stay still for long

the Blue Tit parents have been flying back and forth frantically over the past couple of day, trying to keep up with their chicks appetite.

My Big Year has finally got a kick-start with the trip to Northumberland and the Farne Islands.

and, because I am sure there will be others posting great bird photos on existing Seabird GTG thread, I'm going to be selfish and post mine here.

 

Until you actually see it for yourself it is hard to imagine just how many seabirds there are

Almost as soon as you set foot on Inner Farne the Actic terns start dive bombing you

I think the Green pygmy geese are in fact some kind of grebe, probably Australasian grebe (Tachybaptus novaehollandiae)?
