@@Lala it's a Pale Chanting Goshawk.
Pales have more yellow on the cere (base of the beak), while Darks have more of a reddish, orangish colour there.

I saw one in the Aberdares last June. Could have been a bit closer but beggars can´t be choosers. :)

Thank you for posting the Aberdares Crowned Eagle.

I admire how well-rendered the tail and leg plumage is.

The stance on the snag above a broken-off tree is a classic.

I just saw two Crowned Eagles in Mount Kenya National Park, on January 12.

 

One was an adult bird that we saw perched and in flight. The second was an immature bird seen in flight and eventually observed stooping on distant prey.

 

Photos were distant and poor so I will not inflict them on readers of this thread...

A mating pair above the Zululand Rhino Reserve riverbed this July...I will get the TR up someday. Before June at least!
