Rufous-tailed jacamar (Galbula ruficauda)

3 posts in this topic

The Rufous-tailed jacamar is widespread in the Pantanal where it lives in lower growth forest and woodlands often near water. This bird is usually around 25 cm long with a 5 cm long black bill which is used to catch insects. The Rufous-tailed jacamar hunts from a perch where it sits with the bill raised before flying out to catch flying insects.
