I've seen some inflight photos in recent trip reports. Let's get them featured here...

Here are 2 photos from our flight in July 2008 from Maun to the airstrip at San Camp with a birds eye view of dry Makgadikgadi NP with the harsh glare from the salt pans. I remember that the flight seemed very long and was definitely very noisy, earplugs are a must for these puddle jumper flights.

 

 

 

 

 

These were taken on a scenic flight over the northern Pantanal in 2010. The pilot was our guide Julinho Monteiro of Pantanal Trackers and I recall the takeoff and landing as being very smooth. The flight was around 4 pm and the shadows were lengthening over the Transpantaneira and Lake Piuval.

What a surprise to have a helicopter transfer from the Selinda area to Duba Plains last September. We were picked up in a grassy area and traveled over the Selinda Spillway. Our pilot had not flown the area for a month and was surprised at how low the water was. Three years prior at the same time of the year the water was still coming in. The last photo is the Duba airstrip.

@@samburumags I'm not a whizz kid by any means and two years late replying to your earlier question but one tip I have is get the lens of your camera as close to the glass as possible to cut out reflections but don't actually touch it or you may get vibrations. Not the good type.

Images 1-4, taken on a bush flight from Kwara to Linyanti (Lebala) airstrip, leaving the northern delta approaching the Linyanti Swamp, Botswana.

Seem to get the best results by letting the camera do all the work, fully automatic! EF 24-105mm, images taken between 24 & 50mm.

CATARATAS DEL IGUAZU. SOUTHERN BRAZIL. JULY 2012.

I think I must have a waterfall / helicopter fetish, found these old images in a file, thought they were worth sharing.

Once again taken fully automatic, aerial images at 18mm. Lens EF-S 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, this was a great lens for general/wildlife photography and I was very sorry to see it go when I went full-frame.

Image 1. General view of Cataras del Iguazu taken from Brazilian airspace, hotel in the foreground is Hotel das Cataratas. (Excellent, particularly after several days in The Pantanal).

Image 2. Falls & Rio Iguazu (Superior). Garganta del Diablo (centre), which I think loosely translates to 'The Devil's Throat'.  This is approachable from the Argentinian side which we did, you can just about make out on the image the walkways leading to this impressive feature. 80%+ of the falls are actually located in Argentina.

I have included a 2 extra images just to set the ambience, obviously not taken from the air.

Although Iguazu is the largest waterfall system in the world and hugely impressive, Victoria Falls for me remains number 1, just love the gorges below the falls, the Zambezi and the bridge, or is it just because it's Africa.

It was a thrill to see the herd of elephants we had been watching for a couple of days from a different perspective.
