Rhinos @ Full Steam / Kenya Oct 2011

Taken in harsh light and over processed to make the greens zing!

Olympus E-3, 50-200mm + EC-1.4 / 586mm @ f5.6

It's the only Rhino shot I have up on Flickr at the moment (I really need to get around to processing the rest)

March 2013 in Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania

I'm so jealous @@Atravelynn! That's a great shot with the scalloped wall of the crater as a back drop. I went too the crater a few years ago with the objective of seeing rhino and didn't see a one. I guess it just gives me another reason to return. When was this taken?

March 2013. I think March is a good time in the crater for rhinos without a lot of people. Even April. Rates are better too. May I congratulate you @PT123 on your 1000th post. Beautiful shot!

Apparently, as they are endangered, we're not supposed to say where we saw our rhinos. But I can assure you it was in Africa :P

In the spirit of not revealing its location, but safe to say it is nowhere near the South African scourge...post-47387-0-36588800-1389359324_thumb.jpg

I'm not saying where it is but no doubt you clever people will have no trouble working it out.

Who's going to upload a rhino photo for Rhino Friday?

One of the advantages to being an old fart - and trust me there aren't many - is that I can remember when we would see rhino on every visit to Nairobi National Park.

These are scanned from slides taken in 1981
