Gang,

Thought I would throw this idea out there.

How many people have images they have no intention of selling? Picture a day highlights quality images that could be put to good use.

@gamewarden

My suggestion

1) Lets start working with 2/3 significant African Charities, perhaps with a focus on different conservation aspects.

2) Reach out to Getty, Alamy and possibly one microstock agency. Lets get photographers to provide stock images on the basis that all revenues go to these charities. We could probably agree to have their commission fees cut somewhat.....

Promote as a campaign wider than ST. I am sure you would get thousands of images, hopefully making some contribution?

Yes. Of course, I know some ST members have provided their images for conservation use in the past - how can we proceed? Thoughts please from anyone using any of the agencies @russell has mentioned.

Great idea, happy to contribute but am very time poor at present to investigate options. Will follow Russell's lead.

As we love to say at work, I have limited capacity at the moment.

A process needs to be figured out, for example, how would any images get attributed to a central organisation, whilst passing on all the QA/image sorting aspects to the stock company.

Should have more time starting the weekend....feel free to start planning otherwise.

What a great idea!!!!  Thanks, Russell .....

One thing - I think we ought to put this thread (or any thread with a plan in a prominent spot for people to take note) - I only say this, because I just saw this thread scrolling down the "View new content" pages and would normally have missed it.

As suggested by @africapurohit this topic has been moved to the photography section. (first time I have attempted this task!)

Any progress/update on this great idea @russell ?

I'd be happy to contribute if you think any of my shots are up to it.

Some ideas for consideration. We have used these as fundraisers:

A coffee table book with ST photos

A calender with ST photos

@all

Apologies, but I have not really had the opportunity to advance this, as have spent most of my free time painting a nursery etc.

It is on very long list of things to do!

@Sharifa

Personally, whilst good ideas, in practice I think coffee table books and calendars require significant upfront investment in both time and money. You also need economies of scale and a good order book to maximise the income or break even.
