Taken at Tandala Camp just outside Ruaha National Park Tanzania. Fantastic elephant watching in the dry season. Thats Big man in the middle, so named because he's one of the biggest bulls around. I find elephants extremely difficult to photograph well and B&W often works to bring out the texture and depth of creatures so large whilst combatting the tricky light.

A different B&W conversion of the same buffalo pic I posted a couple of days ago.

That's the problem with not being on safari... I have to play with old images.

Time to plan for the next one! Or have you already done so? Both posts are great, but personally I prefer the first one - it's more emotive. Edited by Kitsafari

A small group of elephants walking under a heavy sky. But I was sure I could do something with that glowering sky.

After a bit of playing around I managed to come up with a B&W version that I think is quite striking.

Like wading elephant 1 best @@IamFisheye. The background adds texture, contrast and perspective.

@@Soukous that buffalo shot is fantastic.

I like wading ele #1 too. Such a lovely, classic delta shot. Where did you take this?

The Ele was taken at Kwara, Botswana from a boat. we had only just moved out into the spillway and hadn't even started the engine when he slid into the water in front of us. A really wonderful experience as he cautiously checked the boat out as he crossed. I have another colour shot that is mid sequence between these two which I've made a print of.

Fantastic light this time of year in Ruaha National Park, with the low angle of the sun, dust and fire creating some great opportunities. Still plenty of grass around for the Jackals to hide in....
