  5. @xelas, yes the Intaka wetland that is part of a residential development, someone else went there this year, and I liked their photos and caught the lure of the Kingfisher Hide.
  6. @TonyQ what a lovely laid back itinerary for 2018. I would second the recommendation for the Lavender Farm at Franschoek, it looks terrific but is unfortunately booked out for our dates next August. For a Cape Town based bird guide you could try Mariana Delport of Cape Eco-tours. In 2012 I was impressed with her deep knowledge of and love for South African birds and flora. She is taking me for a days birding this August to Kirstenbosch, maybe Harold Porter Botanic Gardens which is close to the penguins and if we have time we will try to fit in a visit to Intaka for Malachite Kingfisher close-ups.
