  1. June 2019 all Kicheche camps for 11 nights in the various conservancies in Kenya. Sangeeta was incredible in securing this safari and great pricing! too far away.... but very excited!! Will just keep reading Safaritalk till then!
  2. I suggest you contact @Sangeeta for help , especially as she helped you before: as a solo, she may be able to find you a small group to go with as well. She was incredible in planning our trip to Kenya and got us terrific deals. It will only be our 2nd trip too. Africa is so addictive, as everyone says!!! Best of luck!
  3. Thanks Marg! Looking at Emirates or even Qatar for NBO this time. Last time, we went nonstop from ATL to Jo'burg on the 16 hr Delta: at least we had prem Econ bulkhead.. maybe we'll get lucky and get a bus. Class "deal" next trip.
  4. Fabulous photos and beginning of your TR! Hope for more when you have time...!! Amazing # of rhinos!
  5. Thanks for that laugh! We are in CA, so the flight truly is miserable! Will keep coming as often as possible! Safaris are the best!!!
  6. Stunning photos and fantastic TR! You really create a "story" with words/photos! We had debated on which location for awhile, and finally decided Kenya for next safari: all Kicheche camps in the Mara... thanks so much for all your advice! SLNP will have to wait to another trip (hopefully).
  7. Fabulous TR and photos! Thank you for posting such a great trip! HOw wonderful you saw pangolin and aardvark as well as the cute meerkats at Tswalu! And kafue looked wonderful! Hope we can continue to travel to Africa... just such a far distance for us... happy travels!
  8. Absolutely love this entire TR! Extraordinary photos and loved your descriptions and narrative! can't wait to get to Kenya! A long wait till June 2019..... thanks so much Paul! So happy you had an amazing trip all 3 of you! Will follow your exploits ....
  9. Wonderful! I haven’t been to either yet. how did you decide Tanzania vs Kenya?
  10. Did you see Saruni Samburu just offered a stay 4 pay 3 deal for 2018! Just to let you know.
  11. Fabulous TR and photos!!!! Thanks so much for sharing your amazing trip! I am headed to Kenya but not until 2019.... till then, I read ST!! the Emakoko sounds like a great idea at end of trip: thanks to you @amybatt, @Tom Kellie And @SafariChick. Now, we just have to decide to add an area to the Mara, or just there for 11 nights, moving around... your area looked great!
  12. Terrific TR and amazing photos! Congrats on your first safari! We had our in May and are already planning one for Kenya in 2019... FYI: I consulted many many travel agents and read countless TRs and posts on many websites: ST is the best for advice and the MOST helpful people! I found @Sangeeta this way and she has been beyond brilliant and clever and so much fun to work with to plan our next adventure! Feel very fortunate, so wanted to let you know, in case you do plan a return to Africa.
  13. Thank you!!! Fantastic report! decided to go to these 3 camps and hopefully Duba expedition June 2019 beard a lot on this report and a few others' TRs! fantastic help here!
  14. Thank you so much! Husband is. Ow going to be able to breathe...😎
  15. Hi Safaritalkers! I love this site, since members were so helpful for our first safari. (We went in May to Hwange, Sabi,Chobe) .. now we want to return in August for our next (but sadly , due to distance/costs , it will be our final one). 12-13 nights pure safari. Have read lots ofl reports on here, but none are recent experiences of Mashatu . We are wanting to REturn to S. Africa for Malamala for the game. The Mashatu package with Malamala sold us on Mashatu as well. I'd love to know if anyone has gone recently and if game has now improved, now that drought is lessened (thankfully!)? hoping cheetah still there as well as decent numbers of other game, big and small.... planning on a late August safari time period. Since we haven't been to the Delta, we thought to include, since Tuli is quite different.... would you agree? We would love advice, specifically the Delta/Moremi areas for the beauty of region and the game, not so much the birds... Our agent suggested Ker/Downey 6 night package with flights: 3 Shinde, 3 Okuti or Kanana.... any thoughts? there is a new camp, Sable Alley , but we don't know if it is good location.... We want to keep the Bots part to no more than $1100 pppn including small flights: a lot, but we found prices are keen for August.... We thought of SHoulder season in May/June, but this year, it was so green due to the much needed rains, that game was hard to spot and we didn't see a lot. So, going to bite the bullet and go in high season... We'd appreciate your advice for Bots!
  16. Our guide at Chobe Game Lodge, GAO, was the BEST of the 3 places we went to this May. She loved her job (many many years) and her excitement at each and every bird/animal was infectious! She would stay at any sighting as long as wanted by our fellow jeep-mates and took us out from 6-11:30 or 6-1:30 when we saw amazing sightings: for example, wild dogs on a chase and later lying around on ground, a series of crocs dragging a lechwe down a river and then devouring it (we watched for more than an hour!) Surprised that this place, which was WAY too impersonal and large for my tastes, had the BEST guide.... we also stayed at Kirkmans and The Hide in Zim, FYI.
  17. Fantastic start of report! Love the photos and your descriptions! More please.... am curious about your mobile experience.... thanks for taking the time to do this Vikram!
  18. Wow!!!! Such helpful replies! Madaboutcheetah; just decided TODAY , BEFORE I read these posts, to DROP Malamala and probably Mashatu as well....... after reading hours and hours on here......we are going to do what feels "more authentic" for us, as we don't need luxury (do need electricity for husband's CPAP machine though. ) just was going there for animal density/diversity...... SOOOOO: looking at combos as you all suggest...... FYI: Mashatu does now fly to Maun, bypassing Jo'burg, a few days a week... Looking at 3 night stays before June 15 hits, for better pricing and still outstanding game: Lagoon, Little Kwara, Selinda Explorers, and maybe Duba Expedition or Machaba or Sable Alley... any thoughts on best combo for 12 nights? I probably should start new thread, but just thought I'd continue (unless you suggest a new one "12 nights Botswana early June"....) you all are terrific!!!! Thank you thank you!
  19. Thanks Sangeeta! I hate to write negatives about our experience as our guides did the best they could, but due to unusual rains (so they said), sightings were poor, particularly at Kirkmans when we went: unusual for them, so it is reported. Surprisingly, Chobe Game Lodge had the best game (and our only lions): our guide went out of her way and gave long extended drives when we asked for them : and that was with 8 in a jeep! I had posted on tripadvisor a review.... thanks a million!
  20. Stunning photos and great descriptions, as always, Mike! If you see this, also a BIG thank you for your guidance on my recent posts asking for advice of a trip... will now go June 2019...
  21. Stunning photos and fabulous trip all of you had! Thanks again so much for your advice for our upcoming trip ... now for June 2019.... !!
  22. Bushdog, madaboutcheetah, and Geoff and Sangeeta: thank you thank you! I'll re-read those TRs : remarkable photos from all of you and I so appreciate everyone's taking the time to create them for all of us!!! We will plan for a June safari , rather than August, as you all have had great experiences then: glad to hear I can save $$$$ by going before the rates increase mid-June. I'll skip K&D trip.... Selinda or Selinda explorers do you suggest? for Delta: Little Kwara it seems.... @Sangeeta:; suggested Kadizora/Sable Alley: would you think this combo or Kwara/Selinda for June? we have 6 nights here only, so 2 camps. It's always hard to choose when you have such amazing options, as you all know. Wish we could go yearly, but this will be our final trip here, so I am trying to plan it as best I can, without relying on just an agent's recommendations.... As a total "plan": hope this makes sense to return to S. Africa, Malamala, for game density/diversity and then fly up to Mashatu and then up here.... 13 safari days... I really appreciate all this great advice/assistance! You all are so generous with your time! As a newbie to safari, it is hard to figure it all out....thanks again!
  23. Thank YOU SO MUCH Sangeeta for taking your time to give us such wonderful advice! We only thought of August as people suggested it is "the best" time to go to both S. Africa and Bots... June would be great... cross our fingers for good game density/viewing.... Which Kwando camp would you add if we switch to June? All these opinions really are so valuable for us!!!!! Thank you all!
