  1. I agree, a great start. Thank you for sharing. I am in the process of planning a couple of trips to Africa for this year... going back to Kwando is high on the list. Its funny.... I'm usually a person who wants to try different areas, and different caps for Safaris. Lagoon / Lebala are ones that are the exception for me.
  2. When are you going back to Kwando?
  3. Its been a while since I have been to the Kwando camps (my original visit was partly based on your reports from years ago). I'm due for a return visit. I wonder if Spencer is still guiding?
  4. This is good news. Thank you for sharing.
  5. Thanks CR. I have been at some higher altitudes before... if I go slow, all is usually good.
  6. Thank you for sharing. This, along with the great trip reports, gives me a place to start.
  7. Hmmm... this would be interesting. I remember reading a good trip report about this a couple years ago...
  8. Ive been reading up on Ethiopia. A number of you have shared some excellent trip reports - thank you. Say I wanted to spend a week or so there. What would you recommend? Cant miss locations? There are direct flights from Toronto, and its a easy hop over to Kenya for some traditional safari time.
  9. Thank you for sharing... an excellent start to your adventure. You now have me thinking about adding in some time in Ethiopia on my next trip.
  10. Hmmm.... bartender? Hearing all the stories would be great.
  11. Trust you are having a great time.... I have fond memories of the Porini camps.
  12. That's great news. I'm trying to plan a trip there for Sept.
  13. I was sharing this story the other day, and wonder if anyone else has been "scared" while on a Safari.... We were driving offroad, when they spotted some lions. We were above them on a hill, and the driver decided to drive down the hill, at a very, very steep decline. I thought for sure we were going to tip over, and land amongst the lion pride. While we made it, I was not happy with the driver. I expect they know their vehicles, and what is possible... but it was still quite scary. Trust me, it took a number of "black label" beers that night to calm my nerves. Lots of other stories, like a Hyena walking around a corner at camp a few feet away from me, black mamba going through the dining area, close encounters while on a walking safari. But nothing that truly scared me... Anyone else have a story?
  14. I may may need a hotel near WIlson airport (ill be flying into WIlson in the afternoon, and back out of Wilson early the next morning). Any suggestions? Thanks.
